Proper name [Czech]

IPA: [ˈt͡ʃɛrnoviːr]
Etymology: černý (“black”) + -o- + vír (“whirlpool”) (quarter of Olomouc): The oldest known form of the name is Crinivir from 1249. Later forms of the name include Črnvír, Czenvir, Crnvir or Černý Vír. The current form stabilized probably in 17 century. The Old Czech adjective črn (“black”), used to refer to deep and dangerous water. The village received the name due to the fact that the place lies at the river Morava and used to be frequently flooded or that there was a ford with a dangerous whirl. Compare Černvír, another Czech village with similar etymology. "etymology_text": "černý (“black”) + -o- + vír (“whirlpool”)\n(quarter of Olomouc): The oldest known form of the name is Crinivir from 1249. Later forms of the name include Črnvír, Czenvir, Crnvir or Černý Vír. The current form stabilized probably in 17 century. The Old Czech adjective črn (“black”), used to refer to deep and dangerous water. The village received the name due to the fact that the place lies at the river Morava and used to be frequently flooded or that there was a ford with a dangerous whirl.\nCompare Černvír, another Czech village with similar etymology.",
